چکیده

A new formulation for the study of interacting bosons on a lattice is introduced. This approach is used to give analytical expressions for the Mott insulating lobes in the phase diagram and to calculate the density-density correlation function. It is also shown that, at mean-field level, this newly introduced slave boson theory coincides with mean-field theory of a suitably introduced order parameter. Deconfinement in a 2D optical lattice of coupled 1D boson systems.

We show that a two-dimensional (2D) array of 1D interacting boson tubes has a deconfinement transition between a 1D Mott insulator and a 3D superfluid for commensurate fillings and a dimensional crossover for the incommensurate case. We determine the phase diagram and excitations of this system and discuss the consequences for Bose condensates loaded in 2D optical lattices.

Magnetic and superfluid transitions in the one-dimensional spin-1 boson Hubbard model.

Recent progress in experiments on trapped ultracold atoms has made it possible to study the interplay between magnetism and superfluid-insulator transitions in the boson Hubbard model. We report on quantum Monte Carlo simulations of the spin-1 boson Hubbard model in the ground state. For antiferromagnetic interactions favoring singlets, we present exact numerical evidence that the superfluid-in...

Insulating phases and superfluid-insulator transition of disordered boson chains.

Using a strong disorder real-space renormalization group, we study the phase diagram of a fully disordered chain of interacting bosons. Since this approach does not suffer from runaway flows, it allows a direct study of the insulating phases, not accessible in a weak disorder perturbative treatment. We find that the universal properties of the insulating phase are determined by the details and ...

Phase diagram of a disordered boson Hubbard model in two dimensions.

We study the zero-temperature phase transition of a two-dimensional disordered boson Hubbard model. The phase diagram is constructed in terms of the disorder strength and the chemical potential. Via Monte Carlo simulations, we find a multicritical line separating the weak-disorder regime, where the Mott-insulator-to-superfluid transition occurs, from the strong-disorder regime, where the Bose-g...

Slave-boson theory of the Mott transition in the two-band Hubbard model

We apply the slave-boson approach of Kotliar and Ruckenstein to the two-band Hubbard model with an Ising like Hund’s rule coupling and bands of different widths. On the mean-field level of this approach we investigate the Mott transition and observe both separate and joint transitions of the two bands depending on the choice of the interand intraorbital Coulomb interaction parameters. The meanf...
